Safety Certificates (Rwc)

Need a roadworthy certificate? A roadworthy certificate, also called a safety certificate, is required by law when registering or transferring a new or second-hand vehicle in Queensland.

NTech Mekanix, located in Miami on the Gold Coast, is certified as an AIS (Approved Inspection Station 11259) by Queensland Transport, to issue safety certificates on all makes and model light vehicles including 4WDs.

You will require a roadworthy certificate for your car if you:

  • Advertise your car for sale in Queensland
  • Transfer car registration to a new owner
  • Transfer out of state car registration to Queensland
  • Re-register an unregistered car

All our car inspections for safety certificates cover basic components including tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, body rust or damage, windscreen, and lights.

As an additional service, we can provide a comprehensive mechanical inspection if requested. A roadworthy certificate does not guarantee life expectancy or reliability of a vehicle.

Here are some facts about roadworthy certificates:

  • No paperwork – electronically linked to your vehicle
  • We will email you a PDF version of the safety certificate or a handwritten version on request
  • Valid for 2 months or 2,000km (whichever comes first) from issue date
  • Electronic safety certificates do not need to be displayed on a car listed for sale, but they must be produced if requested by a buyer, buyers’ agent, police officer, or transport inspector.

While we inspect your vehicle, why not enjoy a coffee, drink, or bite to eat at the café right next door.
